Have the courage to die, why not have the courage to live?

Yesterday we received an online mental health emergency consultation enquiry from a man called  “Mr Yang”.  Mr. Yang is an owner of a restaurant, which has six employees. Mr. Yang himself is married and has three children. The eldest is 8 years old this year. The wife is a full-time housewife. Mr. Yang’s restaurant has been in business for about three years, and the business has been enough to support a family of four. Of course, since last year, the COVID-19 struck and the business revenue has dropped by half.

Mr. Yang couldn’t bear to fire the employee because he knew that some of them had families. He even dared not tell his wife because he was afraid that his wife was worried because his wife had a history of postpartum depression. So he began to borrow money from parents and friends to solve the financial problem. Over time, Mr. Yang began to feel depressed and he believes that his incompetence caused the situation today. He also began to face the problem of not being able to pay employees’ salaries, and the problem that his family was about to run out of food.

After being shared by a friend, he saw our online mental health emergency consultation advertisement, so he started to consult with us. In fact, we told Mr. Yang that the financial problem is not his personal problem but the global problem. The most important thing is that he has the courage to seek death, why does he not have the courage to live? As for food, we will send someone to bring it to him. We insist not to post pictures of Mr Yang because we understand that he also have dignity and it is wrong to use pictures of him for publicity.
